A Little Bit About Me...

The most important thing to me in teaching anyone anything is finding out what level they are currently at. In order to learn something, take something in and understand it, one must have something already to attach it to in their minds. I like to adapt my teaching to the personality and learning style of whoever I am teaching, and think that a big part of teaching is help and encouragement. I have a very laid back attitude but feel passionately about problem solving - nobody is going to learn if they are not relaxed and at ease. After receiving my Bachelors degree, I moved to Japan where I taught English conversation to various age groups. I taught nearly six years in Japan. I returned to the United States to pursue my Masters degree and gained further experience teaching World History for three months. During my Graduate studies I was able to add to my skills as a teacher.
Each person has a unique way of seeing the world and their learning method is just as unique. By using my teaching experience gained by teaching a variety of children and adults, I am able to adapt my teaching style to reflect the way in which each student learns. Learning should be enjoyable to the extent that the student seeks further knowledge. Every student deserves the chance to succeed. Helping students achieve the tools to succeed is my passion.
