I have always loved foreign languages. I grew up in a Polish speaking home so was exposed to different languages at an early age. I concentrated my studies in the French language as a major in college and added Spanish as a minor concentration. I have also studied Polish along the way. I have taught and tutored French and Spanish for 31 years. I have also tutored students in English. I consider myself a linguist and have a broad knowledge of all three languages that I have taught.
I have taught all grade levels but at the present time, I am teaching middle school. I have my own hands-on style in the classroom and prefer that method with the students that I tutor. I emphasize on taking few notes but helpful ones. Speaking and listening is my main focus. Students needs to be able to communicate. Using the vocabulary in real world situations is the key, not just in the context of the chapter of the book. My students are able to use Spanish outside of the classroom and this is the biggest reward a teacher can observe.
