I have enjoyed each experience I have had with teaching, beginning with an informal position as a study group leader in the Genetics course I completed at Penn State University. While working on my MS at the University of Tennessee, I taught lecture and outdoor laboratory sessions for the Ornithology course, which included about 30 students. As the coordinator of the Conservation Science Internship Program at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, I am responsible for much of the training of 5-11 interns at one time. After graduating from Susquehanna University in 1993, I began substitute teaching for my former elementary school in Lincroft, NJ. I then took a full-time preschool teaching position for one year. During that time, I also tutored a first-grader weekly in math and language arts for a span of approximately nine months.
