I received a B.S. in Chemistry and an minor in Mathematics and eventually took enough hours to hold a teaching certificate to teach secondary Math and Science. I taught Chemistry for 16 of my 19 years and also Math, Physics, and Digital Electronics for a few years. I learned a great deal about various teaching modalities through my years of teaching and I believe I can be a successful tutor in Chemistry. Learning is a journey. I have a map but you have the wheels

I believe the best way to learn is to ask questions. The best thought process begins with asking the right questions. As a student, I find that knowing the right question was often as important as right answer. Taking this lesson into teaching, I find that getting the student to ask the right question makes all the difference in their understanding. Three teachers impacted my life not only as a result of the content of their classes but in their delivery. All three approached learning as an adventure. Even though the topics ranged from sixth grade mathematics to fluid dynamics each teacher keyed their presentation on the reception of the students. If the first presentation didn’t get the topic across an alternative presentation was made, often in a humorous vein. Students were never allowed to feel inadequate. When working towards my teaching certification I was in many classrooms from Kindergarten to 12th Grade in Pueblo School District 60. After graduation I applied and got a teaching job and I taught at Skyview Middle School in District 49 for 4 years teaching Ancient Civilizations. Before that I was a substitute in District 8, 2, 3, 60, 48 all southern Colorado school districts.
