A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching involves interesting riddles and quizzes at the beginning of each class to prepare students. I also conduct short quizzes on a regular basis to help improve students speed. I typically include illustrations and diagrams in my teaching to enhance students understanding. I am very patient with children and I make it my responsibility to help build their confidence by determining and building on their strengths and improving on their weaknesses.
After my high school education, where I achieved A's in both core and elective math, I began teaching math at the elementary and high school level. I find an interactive, Socratic teaching style in which I encourage the student to discover the answers on their own to understand why something works the way it does is a very effective approach for me rather than just lecturing, particularly for younger learners. I find it equally important for students to understand the why of what they are learning as well as the how and the what.
