My comments on tutoring Study Skills : Currently attending college, where studying is a must. Well developed studying habits that are easy to convey and learn.

My experiences come from a mix of studies and real life application. I have studied various forms of writing, from professional, creative, and argumentative; these include gather sources and properly citing them in both MLA and APA formats. My personal applications of these writing materials have been for personal use in working on short stories and poems. I have an extensive history with drawing, mainly through personal sketches (both cartooning and realism). While in college, I have also studied several techniques that have greatly improved my drawing practices in the form of realistic drawing.
My teaching style is very hands on, and student focused. I like to connect with whoever I teach on a personal level so that they can feel comfortable with me as a tutor and with themselves while learning how to approach old problems in new ways.

Let's learn and Have fun while doing it!

I am here for you. All I aim to do is ensure that your child understands the work they are doing, and teach them a much easier way to comprehend what they are attempting to learn. As a child it can be hard to relate to the work at hand, and as a teacher it can be very complicated to break down the learning material so that the child may understand the lesson. I am here to make learning fun and easy so that grades may improve and education is achieved.

All things good to know are difficult to learn!

I have always been a math person, even as a little kid. I am currently attending Francis Marion University and double majoring in Mathematics and Finance. In the spring of 2014 I will be taking Calculus III and Multivariable Calculus. I tutor my friends and they love the way I teach compared to their professors or instructors. If I do not initially know how to solve a problem, it will take me a few minutes to learn it, provided that there are notes available. I have also been into music for the past 9 years. I know how to play the piano and any percussion instrument.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I’m eager to work as a tutor and use my experience to help advance someone else’s education.
I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.

As a current Criminal Justice Professional, I have found great pleasure in assisting others with their basic life skills. No matter how tough the challenge, it always feels good to lend a helping hand. Now in my journey to continue my education and pursue my Master's Degree in Public Service, I only feel as if I can be that much more of a helping hand. During the last 2 years I have tutored in Mathematics, Social Studies, and English. I have become a very proficient writer as my schooling requires extensive writing and research.
Teaching and learning can be very exciting experiences no matter what the circumstances may be. In my experiences I have learned that most children learn through "relation" and "visual." You must find creative ways to relay knowledge through actions and experiences. Instructors make the world go round. These are the individuals that are providing gui ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I was raised as a bilingual speaker, Italian & English, and was always fascinated by the workings of language. After my discharge from the Air Force in Australia, while studying for a BA in English & History, I began teaching and tutoring in this field. I was drawn to the Linguistics aspect of my study and after comopleting a BEd degree, I went on to specialize in this subject in my MA. I now speak several languages. Although my specialty is in Secondary education, I have taught in primary elementary and at College level. I have taught and tutored students in English Lit, History, Geography, Italian, ESL, Writing and Reading.
Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in havi ... read more

Although I graduated with a degree in Anthropology, it has always been my career goal to pursue teaching and education and to use my knowledge in Cultural Studies to progress my teaching success. My initial teaching experiences were in working with individuals with mental/developmental disabilities, teaching community behavioral and communication skills. I also have tutored students in the past in English and Social Studies. However, the bulk of my teaching has been in English as a Second Language. I had the opportunity to teach in South Korea for 3 years, where I worked with students of all ages in both private and public schools. Here in the US, I have taught recent immigrants English communication skills in New York City and in Miami Beach, working with University study abroad students and professionals looking to gain English communication skills and obtain various certification ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past six months I have been substitute teaching while pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I am an avid reader and have experience, though not professional experience, in teaching children to read and write proficiently. I have worked closely with exceptional students in the role of a substitute teacher and believe that if given the opportunity I could thrive as a tutor.
Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. ... read more

I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. I enjoy watching children learn and build on their learning each day. I also get a great sense of accomplishment when I see the child grasping the concepts they have been trying to overcome.
I have seven (7) years of musical experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra, and pep band. I also have tutored through the Boys and Girls Club along with a program my college inacted for students who were hearing-impaired, mostly in the areas of math and grammar. I have also graduated in the top 10% of my class, both in high school and college. I have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both high school and college. My strengths are math and grammar.

I think that a good educator is the key to success in a child's life. I can still remember my second grade teacher (Ms. Golf), she made learning fun and seemed like everyday was an adventure in her class. Sadly, not all teachers are like that. I do believe that all children learn in different ways. I think that if a child is given a chance and shown some patience, there isn't anything they can't acheive. Children should be guided in learning. They have short attention spans and I think learning should be made fun in order to hold their attention. I want to make a difference in a child's life, like Ms. Golf made in mine.
I have always been an overacheiver in school. I believe in education and I am constantly trying to learn something. My tutoring experience has been limited to tutoring Spanish. I am also very well read and have extensive experience in the business world.

I am a highly qualified and passionate educator and have been teaching children in grades K-8 for the past six years. Home schooling my sons and substitute teaching grades K-5 has given me a tremendous amount of instructional experience. I originally entered the Teacher Certification program at Fayetteville State University and later changed my major to Psychology when I became aware of the mounting number of children with special needs and learning disabilities in classrooms. Receiving my BS in Psychology enabled me to fully understand the various behavioral and learning disorders and how individual instructional methods must be applied to each student for effective teaching and active learning to occur.
My personal demeanor is very calm and affable. I love children and thoroughly enjoy communicating with them. Children respond to me because I treat them with respect, and I i ... read more
