My personal style of learning is to learn by doing. I get my students involved in any process and get them to actually do the work so they learn it from experience, not just reading about it and taking for granted they know what is going on. Seeing the steps in action and seeing the final result brings a sense of accomplishment, which helps a student learn the correct way of doing whatever it is they are trying to learn.

With my degree and certification, I am highly qualified to teach students in grades K-6 in all subject areas. In addition to my degree, I received training for AMSTI and ARI which are in use in many schools statewide. I have a great deal of experience working in inclusion classrooms. Having taught students in each ability grouped program of education, I am aware of the importance of adjusting teaching methods for each student. Beyond my experience in an elementary environment, I have been tutoring high school and college students beginning 9 years ago. A Little Bit About Me...

Many children struggle with classroom learning because they require a different learning method than the one being offered or more direct attention than a teacher of 20+ students can offer. As a dyslexia therapist I was instructed in a number of different approaches to teaching and how to match each one to an individual student's needs. As a tutor I make it my priority to learn not only which subjects a student needs help with but also why they are struggling at all which allows me to adapt the lesson plan in a way that is easy for them to understand and retain.
