I have professionally tutored Math and English as an employee of Ohio University, in a private junior-high and high-school academy, and on an individual basis. I taught a semester of Elementary French at Ohio University in Athens. I am always willing to tutor any subject, but my greatest academic strength lie in language learning. English has long been my strongest subject, and I am fluent in French as well (please see the comments in my subject listing). My teaching style is very patient, kind, and laid back. I believe that everyone has the potential to learn and finish the work they are given, so I very rarely tell someone how to finish a problem or correct a sentence. Instead, I give suggestions of things to think about and ask a lot of questions so that the student can get to the answer themselves. I will gladly point them in the right direction but hesitate to ever point to the answer as I feel the lesson is very easily lost. I see a power in one-on-one teaching/learning and therefore have a great appreciation for tutoring.

I have a BA in Elementary Education with a Math concentration. I have taught 7th grade science for one year, 2 years 7th grade math, and a year of 9-10 grade Pre-Algebra, 11-12 Consumer Math, and an 8th grade math class. I would stay after school and tutor students that were having problems in my class.
I have worked with children the majority of my teen and adult life. I was a camp counselor where I was around them for a week and that's where my love for wanting to teach began. I enjoyed being in the classroom with the students and watching them learn the material and succeeding. There is no greater joy in life than to see kids learn and want to succeed.
