I have been learning and speaking Spanish for 13 years! I would argue that my understanding of grammar is better than most native speakers. I majored in Spanish at Brigham Young University. I lived in the Foreign Language Student Residence for a school year to become more fluent. I also did a couple of mission trips in Mexico and a summer internship with a local Spanish radio station. I worked as a bilingual teller at a bank for over 18 months, where I was able to practice my Spanish about half the time! I have experience as a tutor and hope to gain even more. I was a volunteer tutor to a 6th grader while at Brigham Young University. I have helped family and friends with Spanish on numerous occasions over the years. My comments on tutoring Spanish : Spanish is my first language. I taught it to High School students in 2009-2010. I'm also a translator, proofreader and editor.

Spanish is my first language and have a passion for it. In 2009 I had the opportunity to teach it to High School students and was a great learning experience. In spring 2011 tutored a young boy, age 9. I also am a translator, proofreader and editor. In 2010 I was in charge of a project to translate a 300 page class manual, which was translated, proofread and edited in a period of 12 months.

I don't have a deggree in any of my listings. But i can say I have EXPERIENCE. I am a high school student. How I stand out from others is I know what teachers are looking for NOW. Things have obviously changed since others got their degrees. Teaching styles and expectations. I have a 3.0 avg. And my best subject by far is English. I also have spanish listed. I am a native spanish speaker. I grew up with and around the language. Sure you could find someone who was taught the language in the classroom. But why not someone who speaks it on a daily basis. Who can read, write, speak and deeply understand it.
Communication and patience is key. Im not an easily irritated person. I understand the struggles other teens may be going through as so have I before.

Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature.
My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
