The most effective methods for teaching math to any students level is to make it relevant, connect math content to every days' life. Everyone needs help now and again!

Math Tutor looking to offer help to those who need it

I tutor mostly in math, but am also available for a few other subjects as well. I like to tutor one on one with the student. It seems to make them more comfortable when asking questions. Also, it gives me a chance to deal specifically with the problems they are experiencing in the subject.
Recently, I have taken a college algebra class and a business calculus class, both of which I maintained an A in. I have a little tutoring experience from junior high. One of my instructors requested that I help some of the other students in my math class. I also have been tutoring my family in some of their college math classes. I was recently suggested by my college algebra professor for a tutoring position at the college, but had to turn it down because I was relocating. I believe the true way to teach is to make a connection for each student: relate the material to something the student already knows. A more “hands-on” approach will allow the student to learn faster with greater retention. I feel that every student has the ability to learn, and that it is the teacher’s job to provide each student with the connection. My degree in Engineering has given me plenty of experience in math and science. I have also had graduate courses in Physics and Engineering. As a graduate student at UNT, I instructed several physics and astronomy labs and learned first hand what teaching can be like.
