Musical is one of my top subjects! BA Piano (BYU-Idaho), MM Piano Performance (BSU). Have an excellent background in teaching advanced music theory at collegiate level. Classically trained in vocal performance and have sung with BYU-I Collegiate Singers (2014).

I teach to cater every student’s needs and their learning modality (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic). I tailor each lesson according to the student’s previous background or current level. For children, I make each lesson enjoyable by incorporating games that foster learning.

As a graduate from BYU with a BS in finance and composite minors in accounting and economics, I moved into the medical management field. Within 7 years, I had taken a medical practice struggling to survive financially to a 3-physician, 2-midlevel practice. That experience launched a career. Other business background includes general management of a hotel/restaurant/touring company in a resort town. Later, I returned to school to complete an MA in theater. Here, I taught theater as an adjunct professor. I have also written and published a book and several one-act plays and variety shows.

I am a strong believer in the Socratic style of teaching which, as you know, helps students themselves to think through issues and problems and discover the answer as we move along. I have always enjoyed leading students to that 'eureka' moment where they have grasped a difficult idea or concept, put it in their own words, and communicated it back to me, the teacher. I enjoy tutoring children one on one. Many children have difficulties in school because of low confidence levels, which are reinforced in the classroom by very little individual attention. I believe the more comfortable a child feels in her/his learning environment, the easier she/he will learn. As a tutor, I try to ease academic pressure by developing a relaxed, supportive relationship with the student.
