One-on-one and encouraging
I worked in the Polya Math Tutoring Center on the University of Idaho Campus for 3 years where I tutored various college math courses. My comments on tutoring Logic : Logic is what operates our devices and internet, everything from cars to TVs are controlled by logic. I love to explore and learn how logical processes make up our digital lives and just how they make our electrical devices work.

I prefer to teach by doing, as I believe that performing tasks and becoming familiar with the process is more beneficial than wrote memorization or written assignments/quizzes. I like to get to know my student, where they are in their studies, and what they feel they need to work on versus what they already know.
I have plenty of experience working on personal, university, and job related projects. Notable projects I have worked on would include creating a mobile study app for the Genetic Counseling degree at Boise State University, creating a back-end staff directory service/database for the New York Public Library, and plenty of Flutter projects.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was a high school student, I tutored pre-algebra, geometry and algebra, Shakespeare, World Literature, and Earth Science. I managed my own clients and improved test scores with every client. During the summer of 2005, I tutored mentally disabled children in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I attended the University of Idaho and have received a B.S. in Mathematics. While there, I worked at the Polya Math Lab, tutoring college algebra. I continued to tutor on my own during college, and have tutored in all forms of vector calculus, from methods of integration to 3d modeling. I have also tutored Abstract Algebra (group and ring theory), Combinatorics, and Number Theory. I am particularly good at walking people through proofs. While at college, I have also helped people develop their writing skills by participating in over 4 semester-long workshops.

One of my greatest tools has been mathematics. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems. At Boise State University I was the coordinator and facilitator for the Active Learning in Mathematics Program, I lead a twelve member engineering student team and coordinated twenty plus math sessions. I was promoted based on leadership roles, determination, team work, going beyond job requirements to achieve objectives, and implemented new ideas. I improved the program by increasing student attendance, availability, collaboration, and teaching skills. Being passionate in engineering and mathematics has helped me achieve many goals, for example obtaining a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and being able help others succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the last five years, I have been helping children and adolescents with disabilities and, more recently, tutoring students at BSU. After five and a half years at BSU, I graduated with an elementary education degree. I have a background in mathematics and science, as both were previous majors I chose to pursue. During my last year of college, I was in the public schools where I taught and apprenticed under master teachers in both the 1st and 4th grades. Because of my experiences, I have taught a full spectrum of students, finding ways to engage them as well as help them learn.
Due to my background, I have learned patience and passion are essential for a student’s success. Further, not everyone learns the same way. Therefore, over the last five years, I have discovered multiple ways to explain something differently to help develop understanding. Further, I feel that your st ... read more

For the last five years, I oversaw the middle school and high school math program and teachers at a private school. In addition to teaching, I have tutored students who struggle in math and students who excel in math for the past 7 years at all levels of high school math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children, as I have coached or tutored school aged children for the last six years. This has taught me to be very patient as well as given me the ability to approach a subject from three or four different angles until the student gets it. I often ask many questions in an attempt to get the student to come to conclusions on their own, rather than me telling them outright. This allows the student to put things in their own terms, a process which I believe allows for a deeper understanding of the material.
I have always loved Math and Science, which is what led me to complete a BS in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics. My education allows me to be confident in many areas of math and science. I recently tutored a high school student in the areas of Geometry and Chemistry, which took her from a C to an A. I also volunteered my time as a Matheletes coach for a local ... read more

I have spent the last five years attaining my BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Throughout those four years I have had several opportunities to help out by mentoring young students. I am a part of a greek organization on campus that has housed many students, of which I have had the chance to help. I have tutored in several areas including: English, Mathematics (up to Ord. Differential Equations), programming, engineering, and CAD programs. I also have a lot of experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I have not tutored in, but have recently taken and completed, physics, chemistry, materials, robotics, and economics.
Initially, I like to find out the basics. I want to know their underlying assumptions in any part of academia, whether it's math or science. I have come to find that the very simplest of assumptions can mislead student ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a unique approach to teaching because my background is both analytical (numbers and science) and imaginative (theater and literature). While classroom training is my forte, I also have a solid background in teaching online. This combination is particularly useful since no two children learn in the same way. I do not believe any student is dumb. If he or she has struggled picking up a concept, it is more likely because the right method of teaching has not yet been explored. I also believe educational advancement needs to be determined objectively by comparing scores from start to finish and subjectively by measuring a student's own feelings about his or her progress.

I believe if given the right tools, a student can and will succeed in education. If a student feels comfortable in the classroom, I believe that is the first step to the student succeeding. A student isn’t likely to care about work in a class where they feel the teacher hates them, or where the teacher is too easy or difficult. It’s very important for me, as the teacher, to get to know each and every one of my students so I can do the best to make them feel comfortable and important in the classroom. Once I get to know the student I can implement personal challenges and assignments that will cause the student to succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my tenure at Montana State University, where I majored in Physics with a minor in mathematics, I was a primary resource for other classmates for our homework assignments. A group of us was found almost daily before class checking over homework where I was usually the one that would help others with the more complicated problems. Recently I have been a TA for introductory physics class at Boise State University.
I enjoy teaching, seeing that moment where a problem actually makes sense to someone. I am primarily a hands on teacher for physics especially though I am very comfortable with a lecture based teaching style.

A Little Bit About Me...

The past ten years for me have been spent teaching English and theology in a third-world setting in Africa, Nigeria to be specific. I have been responsible for organizing and overseeing the curriculum as well as classroom teaching since 1998. I was also a teacher at a Community College in Dallas, TX for a year. During my undergraduate degree, I was involved in tutoring English and math for students who were struggling. I feel that my academic knowledge as well as the practical experience I have gained over the years qualify me to help tutor students in English and math.
I am a strong believer in the Socratic style of teaching which, as you know, helps students themselves to think through issues and problems and discover the answer as we move along. I have always enjoyed leading students to that 'eureka' moment where they have grasped a difficult idea or concept, put it in thei ... read more

I am a concrete random learner who was successful in an abstract linear system. The way my brain processes information give me a unique viewpoint that can find a way to help others learn and grow. Confidence seems to be a cornerstone for learning. Accepting each student where they are at and for their individual strength, gives us a fantastic foundation on which to learn. Laughing helps us learn.
I have been translating complicated ideas into a language/format that others can understand since kindergarten. I have always enjoyed the process. As a college student at Carnegie Mellon University, I started working at Sylvan Learning Center as a math tutor specializing in Algebra and Calculus. I also found quite a bit of success working with behavior problem students in middle school and higher math. I take a calm and respectful approach to teaching and tutoring students. I view the exercise as an opportunity to provide guidance rather than instruction. I encourage students to arrive at an understanding of problems and solutions in the context of how they relate to the fundamental principles underlying the question at hand, be it a mathematics or scientific specific challenge. Rather than providing solutions, I demonstrate how to ask the correct questions, how to approach a problem with the mindset of understanding how it relates to fundamental principles and thus draw the logical line of reasoning to arrive at a workable conclusion or solution. I’ve always been of the mindset that the “pencil remains in the student’s hand” meaning they do the work, I am simply there to help encourage them towards the correct line of reasoning.
