I served in the US Navy for six years after high school, providing me with a wealth of world experience. I excelled in my studies in the Navy's nuclear power program as a machinist mate and engineering laboratory technician. I subsequently obtained a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I worked for several years in chemical design at Oak Ridge's National Nuclear Security Complex. I believe in an interactive learning environment where I am constantly asking students for their inputs and working through problems with them. This way, they become confident in their abilities to solve difficult problems and provoke critical thinking. I am currently a graduate student in petroleum engineering. As an undergrad I worked as a mentor for a freshman in my major, helping him cope with school and advising him of the courses he needs to take. I also provide tutoring when needed. In high school I was part of a program called PEPP where high school students provided tutoring to middle school students.
