Experience Summary
As a Penn State graduate, I earned a B.S. in Earth Sciences with a minor in Chemistry, assisting a paleoclimatology laboratory on campus for three years. I then enrolled at Bloomsburg University as a graduate student for a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, and worked as a graduate assistant. I then completed student teaching at Williamsport Area School District in a high school chemistry class and a middle school science class.
I am a certified chemistry teacher for the state of Pennsylvania with all proper clearances and references, including Act 34, 114, 151, and several personal references. Furthermore, I am confident in my abilities to educate my students in all math and science studies.
Teaching Style
My studies have given me practical experience working with children of different abilities and readiness. I sincerely believe it is the teacher's responsibility to adapt lessons to the student's learning style. I strive to create connections to student past lessons and keep difficult concepts in easy, relative terms that simplify information for the student to digest. I prefer teaching lessons through discovery learning and constructivist approaches, and will ask as many questions to my students as my students will to me.
Personally, I am considerate, professional, and genuinely caring to each of my student's success. I have never given up on a student's abilities to learn, and I convey an attitude of perseverance to my students.
