Students learn with a variety of learning methods. Some students are more kinetic, while others are more auditory or visual. I think it is important for students to develop self- esteem and see themselves succeeding, and that is what I work on first including staying on task. I have always used Madeline Hunters guidelines for successful lesson plans, which includes using manipulatives to assist students in understanding concepts. My focus is on educational strategies such as rules of phonics, Spalding, a variety of reading and math programs to assist students in remembering what they are learning so that the student can complete their assignments and use in their future education. First, and foremost, I believe that effective learning is both fun and relevant. I have always been able to make a game of it and to make it both interesting and challenging to others. My goal is never to teach them a rote solution, but to challenge them to think about the concepts and have then tell me the answers. This builds their confidence and solidifies their learning experience. I find that if they understand how a concept was derived in the first place, they seldom forget that story and therefore have learned something that will stay with them for a live time.
