I consider my self very hands-on. My teaching career started as an elementary school teacher. I've been teaching for 11 years now. I've also taught adult education for six years at Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center. Throughout my teaching career,I've also worked as a mental health professional. I first gain the trust of my students, and then start to build an appreciation for learning in their minds. Once that process has begun, I inject a sense of humor, a sense of patience, and a great deal of love into my teaching. I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. I have taught all subjects in elementary school, English, history, and mathematics in middle school, and English composition and literature in high school. Additionally, I have taught mass communication and creative writing in high school. I have taught remedial English, freshman composition, and technical writing on a collegiate level. I love to make things interesting. I struggled with science in middle school and required a tutor. This person didn't make learning the subject fun, so from there I decided that with everything students learn a little fun should be involved. As soon as the student becomes stressed, I do some kind of physical activity with them to make them feel better. I have finished many of my math classes through high school with A's. I absolutely love writing stories and essays. The lowest grade I have receives on any writing assignment was a B. I have tutored many of times before and my students did extremely well. One student started with me with a grade of D in math and picked it up to an A.
