My education is a private-based curriculum comprised of small student-teacher ratios. Since 4th grade I was taught intensive Spanish. A prep student, I excelled in English, Algebra and Geometry. I have informal experience as an English, Political Science and Marketing tutor to my prep, college and MBA peers. I have taught private guitar for the past 10 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would love to make a difference in a child's life. I feel I have a lot to offer with my continuing education, job skills and real life skills. The ability to motivate and empower others and really caring about people.
I am currently enrolled at the State College of Florida to complete my AA in Liberal Arts. I have 62 credit hours and plan to graduate next semester. Education is important but so are real life skills and what happens outside of school. I am a licensed real estate sales person in Florida. I was also a human resource coordinator. During the course of my career I have had the opportunity to help others. Real life is what matters. Someone could be a 4.0 in college, but do they have what it takes to make it outside the classroom.

I absolutely love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe that every child learns differently and it is my job, as a teacher, to help each child find the way that works best for them. Academics can be tedious, difficult and even uninteresting to many students, but I believe that there are many ways to make learning fun! I am very patient, dependable, hard working, and creative. I believe in teaching to the individual – whether through repetition of examples, life applicable examples, and/or self discovery. I believe that all children can learn and excel if given the right support. I believe that teachers can make a huge impact on a child’s life and I strive to make a positive difference in all of my students’ lives.
I have always been a very driven individual – in education, sports and music. In school, I always strived to make the highest grades and would ... read more

I love using manipulatives with all subjects. It makes learning fun even for those that are frustrated with the subject. Since everyone learns in a different way I need to teach the material in different ways to find out which way is best for that student. By using manipulatives with verbal directions and giving examples for them to see covers the bases of physical, visual, and aural learning students. I was not very good in certian subjects like math in elementary school and I had to come up with ways to learn the material on my own. This has helped me to teach students that are like me when I was that age. I can relate to how they are struggling and their frustration in not keeping up with the rest of the class.
I have been working at the same local elementary school since November 2006 working with EBD and VE student, tutoring students one on one and in small groups of up to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have 15 years experience as a private music teacher. I have taught flute, harp and piano to students from age 5 to adult. I have been a classroom teacher for 5 years. I recently finished the requirements to receive my teaching certification but have not filled for it yet (I plan to have it by the fall). I have also worked for CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) as a teacher who grades exit essay exams for high school students.
I enjoy working with students on a one-to-one or small group basis. This is currently how I teach in the classroom. I have approximately 4-5 students in a harp class and privately I teach one-to-one. I enjoy getting to know students and find out what makes them tick. I especially enjoying working with elementary and middle school students.

Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.
I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels.

A Little Bit About Me...

My ideal teaching style is by using questions and challenging my students to get the answers. I am very consistent as well on memorization and reading. Classical education - namely the Aristolean method - is something I strongly advocate.
I have tutored both college-age and high school students for a number of years, and my strong areas are History, English, and Social Science. I have also served as a Sunday School teacher for middle-school students and adults.

A Little Bit About Me...

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. If you were to ask me to describe myself using three words, I would say that I am caring, compassionate, and committed. John Lubbock once said, "If we succeed in giving the love of learning, the learning itself is sure to follow." This is a quote that I strive to live by, as well as demonstrate daily in my teaching style. I firmly believe in education both as a tool in investing in the future, as well as an opportunity to make a positive difference in children's lives. :)
In 2005, I graduated from Clearwater Christian College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as an ESOL endorsement. I have three years of full time teaching experience, teaching both first and third grades, as well as one full year of substitute teaching. Last year, I decided to enter the Pinellas county public sc ... read more
