Experienced Tutor with Expertise in Math and Social Science

My teaching style varies for each student, I try to tailor the work to how the student learns.
I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs. Learning can be fun...if done the right way

Fun teaching methods. Reading simple books and signs for starters. Songs and learning the lyrics is a good and effective way to learn a new language
I lived my whole life in Damascus, Syria. Coming to the States every summer was very interesting for me, having the best of both worlds, my mother being from Kentucky, and my father syrian. Throughout my life, i never understood the value of being bilingual. Now i am very grateful for my upbringing and the education i was given. Arabic is a hard yet beautiful language, and one that will be spoken by all soon. I studied in the International school of Choueifat for 10 years, and for my senior year in high school, moved to a boarding school in Brummana,Lebanon. Sadly Arabic was not taught in that school, and thats when i came to appreciation with the language we all take for granted.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a high school senior and have been tutoring peers since middle school. Because I am so young I have very few official tutoring hours, however I do mentor freshmen through our highschool EAP program and younger girls through the STEM program. I work well with students in 6th grade and higher. My strong subjects are in math. I self-studied and tested out of Geometry as an 8th grader and am currently in AP Calc 2. I have 33 college credits ranging in every category from English to Math. I have 33 in math on my ACT and have a very strong understanding of the concepts it presents.
Because I went through the accelerated program I understand the need of hands on activities and alternative learning styles. I bring these into my teaching. I also am a firm believer that doing a lot of problems is the best way to get good at a subject, especially math.

I believe the best way to learn is by working one on one and then taking the lessons learned and working out problems with out a tutor present and then bringing back the problems that caused a struggle. Even better is working in a group of peers and then checking in with a tutor weekly so that the student and tutor can zero in on what the sticking points were that week.
