I am an artist, teacher, writer, and designer. I have been creating art since the age of 5 years old. I received a scholarship from Memphis College of Art for my portfolio and artistic ability. I have been teaching art to inner-city youth for 6 years, teaching elementary and high school aged students. I have also spent the last 2 months giving private art lessons to a child at my church. I love teaching art and helping children discover their artistic voice.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began drawing when I was about 4 years old and have never stopped. Majoring in art in high school and in college I've worked as an artist and an art director for the past 25 years or so.. I was recently certified as a teaching artist. My main area of expertise is in illustration, especially in drawing people. I enjoy working with children. I like to see their eagerness to learn and their excitement to read. It is important to me that they learn, so I will want to see results from their performance. I am firm and stable, but from the "old school." I believe that hard work does eventually pay off, and what is more important than teaching and training a child to work hard for their education.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a caregiver for my two nephews and one niece I feel that I am very qualified to work with children. Since moving back to Memphis I have been very involved in their education and upbringing. I graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, La., where I was a tutor for the Saturday Science Academy. In the program, I was responsible for following a strict lesson plan designed to prepare the students for the yearly LEAP Exam, which is equivalent to the Memphis City School's TCAP. I focused on students in grades fourth and fifth in mathematics and reading comprehension.
