Experienced. Effective. The logical choice.

I have always enjoyed teaching others sharing my love of learning. I find it most effective to use a variety of methods to successfully teach information. Material is best learned when it can be easily understood by the student and has practical applications for everyday life. I am not the type of tutor to just hand out answers to problems. I guide my students down a path of critical thinking, all the while leading them to the answer by asking a series of questions designed to stimulate their thought process. I will find a different way to explain the material if the student does not comprehend it. I will always work at the pace of the student. I love discovering each individual student and the way to help them learn. My goal is to help students become inspired by their subject matter so that it can play a role in their lives as well as their test scores.
I have led several small groups of teenagers and young adults in Biblical studies at Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church, several musical groups in practicing and performing, and a summer-long book club at Crown College. Since graduating from the University of Albuquerque, I have worked in the New Mexico Governor's Office and been a guide for a Santa Fe outdoor museum. I also worked at the History Library, which is part of the Museum of New Mexico's Palace of the Governors Museum. In 1993, I was trained in English as a Second Language by Literacy Volunteers of America. I taught English in Japan in 1995.
