I love tutoring because it gives me the ablility to individualize each students program so it fits their learning style. If a students doesn't understand a concept when I explain it, I use other ways (other explanations and manipulatives) to help the student understand. I am patient and understand each student is unique and their program should be unique to them. I graduated from Ball State University with a major in Elementary Education. Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades. In College I would form groups to try and study for upcoming test or exams. My trigonometry teacher had me substitute teach his college algebra and trigonometry courses for him while he away. This was some of the most satisfying work I have ever done. When a student finally understood what I was explaining it was like you could see the light come on in their head. I began tutoring in high school then in college, I majored in mathematics to pursue a career in teaching.
