A Little Bit About Me...

Working with people, particularly children, has always been a passion of mine. Through the psychology program at Husson College I was able to gain a better understanding of human interaction, interpersonal relationships, as well as to obtain further insight on the foundation of the cognitive wiring in which we all possess. Learners who have experienced repeated failure need successful experiences to help build self-confidence; I start with what they can do successfully already. Knowing the individual's interests and talents helps me tie the topic to something important to the student, and to help them understand how the topic relates to their present and future lives. Finally, helping the individual understand how she or he learns is the key that will allow him or her to take control. I help the student identify strategies and systematic ways to problem-solve so that she or he can develop independence.
