My comments on tutoring Reading : Extensive experience and training in Reading instruction for grades 6-adult, both in and out of classrooms.

After attending (and teaching in) a graduate program in American/British Literature and Language at L.S.U., I realized that my true calling was teaching. I began teaching English, Journalism, S.A.T. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. Your Goals Are Only As High As You Set Them

Reading is one of my top subjects! Reading is a passion for me for two reasons; One because I am an avid reader and two because my older brother has a learning disability and I spend evenings helping him with his English/reading homework. With any student I would like to achieve a grade level increase.

I have some experience in tutoring in general. I have tutored fellow students who played the flute, I have also tutored fellow students on reading and spelling. I have a brother with a learning disability so I spent my entire adolescence helping him with his school assignments and helping him with his reading disability.
I work with the students making them feel comfortable, never making the feel overwhelmed but enough work that they are working on the assignments that I give them.
