I graduated with a BS in history in 1996. After nearly seven years working for a large communications corporation I returned to college to get my teaching credentials. I completed a years student teaching and have taught middle school and high school at a local private school. At that school I often tutored students, offered help on my own time, and was the monitor of the school's study hall, Homework Club. Since 2009 I have taught adults at a local technical college. I have taught Science curriculum for thirty years. The subjects I have taught include Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Zoology, Biology, Chemistry and AP Chemistry. I have a passion and talent in teaching Chemistry with many short and usefull tricks to learning the material. I have had great success with the students that have taken the AP Chemistry test.
In my classroom experience, I have developed a process of instruction followed by in-class practice that effectivly leads to individual learning. As an instuctor in a one on one situation I have found it best to deal with the deficiencies of learning and reinforce the material the student knows. I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners.
