I began my 32 year teaching career in the field of music. I taught in the Visalia Unified School District in Visalia, California. I taught classroom music to children in grades 4-6. This was a job that required traveling from school to school encompassing 12 schools a week. During that time, I worked on completing a fifth year of college in order to obtain an elementary teaching credential from California State University, Fresno. I believe that all children and adults have the capability with learning any subject area, especially music. Music can control all emotions and enables children and adults to express themselves. I am neither an easy teacher nor a hard one because I have some kind of expectations for each student (depending on their level), which they always meet for me. I push my students to become the best they can be without putting too much stress in their practice time. I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. That being said I try to make the learning as fun as possible but organized. I also try to bring in anything that they are interested in to make them enjoy the subject they are learning. If I can find an example in life they can relate to that will help them learn something I will find it and bring it in. I love working with children and really love math.

I have recently completed my Masters in Elementary Education and am working at Community Charter School in Charlotte as a Teaching Assistant.
