A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in helping people that need help. So in college I began tutoring and started to do a bunch of community service projects. I have two years in tutoring experience. I tutor subjects such as algebra, pre-cal, biology, microbiology, world religion, psychology and the list continues. I have not had the experience in tutoring chemistry yet, I am currently taking organic chemistry and when I get finish chemistry courses that my college major requires I will begin to be a tutor for the subject. College Algebra is one of my top subjects! College Algebra is the combination of Algebra 1 and 2 although it is slightly more complicated it is basically the same principles and concepts as high school algebra. I feel that I am more than capable of teaching someone how to manipulate equations and think analytically.

I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. I do not have current experience teaching or tutoring for pay. I did some tutoring of high school students and fellow classmates while I was in college. Since then, I have been the "go-to" person in my family for help with math and science. I tutored one of my sisters in her classes at St Charles Community College. She graduated with an Associates degree in AutoCAD last year. I helped her with all her cad, math, physics, and engineering classes. From 2002 thru 2008, I tutored one of my nieces through her junior high and high school math and science classes. A Little Bit About Me...

Giving a student the answer does not facilitate their learning. My style of tutoring and teaching is to reinforce the basics, ask leading questions and give examples that assist the student discover the correct answers for him or herself.
While substitute teaching various subjects, I discovered my hidden talent – making math understandable for youth. My other gifts include excellent grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. I don’t have a teacher’s certificate, however, and am currently choosing not to substitute, but I miss the personal interaction with students who want to learn.
