I have over fifteen years of teaching experience in the areas of mathematics, physics and astronomy. I taught at colleges and universities in the State of Illinois, Big Sandy Community and Technical College located in Prestonsburg; Kentucky, and I taught at Xavier University School of Medicine in Aruba; Dutch Caribbean. I earned a PhD in Physics from The University of Chicago.
I focus on the concepts of mathematics. I use graphical techniques to emphasis the concepts being taught. With these concepts in mind, physics can be a fun and interested to learn.

I believe the best way to learn is by working one on one and then taking the lessons learned and working out problems with out a tutor present and then bringing back the problems that caused a struggle. Even better is working in a group of peers and then checking in with a tutor weekly so that the student and tutor can zero in on what the sticking points were that week.
I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics since the age of 15. I started working at a tutoring center where the student's ages ranged from 4-15. I then moved on to college where I studied math and computer science. I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I and II. As a Purdue graduate, I was the recipient of the highest level of instruction in math and science. As an undergraduate I was named on the Dean’s list six times and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. In order to be granted this degree I was required to gain a great understanding in many areas of math and science. After earning a Masters Degree in Math from UK, I accepted my first teaching position at Northern Kentucky Community College where I served as chair of the Math Dept from 1962-66. I returned to UK to pursue a doctorate in math and was assistant to the chair of the math department. During this time, I taught 2 undergraduate courses per semester from 1966-77. In 1977, I became Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a position I held until I retired in 2005. While serving as Assistant Dean, I often taught evening classes composed of both undergraduates and non-traditional students. I started my college career pursuing architecture because I enjoy drawing and design. Realizing buildings weren't my passion and agriculture was where I wanted to go, I changed to a triple major in ag systems technology, ag business, and economics. While in college I had such a love for math that I took math classes as electives and became a math tutor for college math. My most recent experience is that of an Instructor in math and science.
I convey to each student a never give up attitude and show confidence in their ability to understand the material.
