Growing up my mother ran a tutoring program out of our home. This is where I initially learned the skills involved in tutoring. Ever since I was 16, I was aiding my mother in various tutoring sessions and when I entered University at age 18 I worked as a lead tutor for a tutoring program for at-risk children of the Azusa community in California. Since 1998, I've been volunteering and working with kids of all ages as well as physical/mental complications. I've taught and tutored in many areas that include Spanish, English, math, science, and sports. I love working with people of all ages especially with children. I have an ability to communicate the complex theories in everyday language that makes me a very effective tutor. It is great when someone starts to understand the theory of their subject and then continue to more complicated things. The key to tutoring is to understand the frustration and embarrassment someone feels when they do not understand something and overcome this with a friendly, straight-forward approach.

My teaching style can be described in two words: persistent and patient. I believe that the reason why a student may seem disinterested in education is due to fear of not understanding the subject, embarrassment of failure, and/or lack of self-motivation or focus. But all of these can be overcome with a persistent tutor who does not give up on the student, and who is patient to understand that the student just needs more time and work. I recently graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in architecture which allowed me to be very understanding of math and science while also gaining a strong inclination to creativity.
