A Little Bit About Me...

While working on my associates degree I tutored pre-calculus and statistics. I also worked briefly with catholic charities tutoring all subjects for high school students in need. I then completed my bachelors degree while tutoring part time at SUNY Oswego and independently with a high school student in Math and AP physics. I am currently working with that same H.S. student and now I am also working with a third grade student as well (also in math).
I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who can benefit from my experience. I love mathematics, statistics and physics and I attempt to pass that enthusiasm to my students. I have taught in many areas of study. Since I was young, I taught my younger family members the importance of manners, honesty, care, and responsibility. I believe this has carried into my real-life career as a teacher. I have taught at schools such as Hope Hall in Rochester, NY and Lemoyne Elementary in Syracuse, NY. There I helped my students with their basic subject courses during their class time period. I have taught dance at Kami's Kix Dance Studio which has helped me to gain stronger classroom management skills as well as gaining a thicker patience. I am currently attending SUNY Oswego and in 2011 will graduate with a BA in Childhood Education.

My approach to teaching art is philosophical at its core because creativity belongs to being. The rules of art are derived from the laws of Nature. My philosophy of teaching art is based on learning to allow the relationship between art and the natural world to emerge in a way that one can be open to and follow the dictates of his or her own experience with making art.
I have taught drawing and design for the past 10 years at Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College. I have taught after school programs with the Metropolitan School for the Arts. I have also worked with children 5- 10 years of age and have taught 3-D , figure drawing and painting.
