A Little Bit About Me...

I have been studying education since my high school graduation in hopes of one day being the choir director at my high school.At the moment I am a student at UTEP studying bilingual elementary education and plan to receive a masters in music education after receiving my bachelors degree. I am currently a subsitute teacher and am hoping to continue helping students with their studies in the summer and weekends. In my schooland work experience I have worked with children of all grade levels and all subjects.
I am firm but like to use students life experiences and hobbies to teach them subjects. Younger students I like to teach through play due to the fact that I am a firm believer that children learn through play.

The subjects I have taught are Health, Texas History, Basic Science, American History, Spanish 1-3, World Geography, Biology, Language Arts including writing, spelling and grammar. Even though these subject are outside of my major, I took the time to prepare. We also know that teaching a subject helps us learn it better. I have always loved teaching. I never had a desire to divert from teaching and become a counselor or an administrator. I have taught students from kindergarten to community college. A Little Bit About Me...

At the Masters Level of education, I was very involved in tutoring others in the accounting lab.Now I work for a company in which I have put to use the knowledge that I have gained with my education. I continue to strive in learning new policies and procedures in the accounting field. I am studying for the Certified Public Accountant Certification in which would enable me to keep learning the field of accounting. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring children on a one-to-one basis because I beleive that students progress more if they get individual attention. I get to see the students' faces light up when they "get it" and knowing that I have made some impact in their lives is very rewarding.
I have an MA in history as well as a BA in antropology from New Mexico State University and graduated with honors.
