My comments on tutoring Computer Programming : I'm best with MATLAB, but this is comparable to C/C++. I'm familiar with programming logic.

In my experience as a student, I have often questioned the teaching methods of many teachers and professors. I sometimes realize more effective ways things could be explained, once I understand it. I am patient and sympathetic with those who misunderstand a concept. I enjoy the challenge of applying my ability to explain a topic from multiple angles of comprehension.

I don't believe the grade of "F" should stand for failure, but for feedback. It means the way you are doing something isn't working correctly. I use Thomas Edison experiment getting the light bulb- took him 99 attempts- if he quit after the tenth try we all might be using whale oil today or kerosene at night to read. I believe all children have the potential to learn however some children need to be motivated more about the importance of learning. I am willing to listen to a child to help them out plus I try to display the values of the Boy Scout Law and oath which includes kindness. I began tutoring math for Stetson University which ranged from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I then began tutoring privately and I have tutored lower level math and advanced statistics. I have tutored a student who was failing calculus in class but then they earned the highest possible grade on the standardized test. I also have a degree in mathematics.
My teaching style involves a lot of examples and having the student answer the questions on the board. I am able to come up with examples off the top of my head and have the student work through the problem to prevent "dumb" mistakes (such as forgetting a minus sign). I am very patient and allow my students as much time as possible and encourage them to ask whenever they are stuck. I try to show that math can be fun and interesting and that there are applications out in the real world.
