I've always loved to read, I inhereited it from my father who got it from his father. I'm an avid writer as well. I currently write book reviews for The San Francisco Book Review and the San Diego Book Review. You'll find samples of my work at http://www.thereadingcan.blogspot.com . I really feel I can help youth and young adults learn to read. Currently I work with individuals who have disabilities to find and maintain work. I would like to help youth and young adults with disabilities learn to read as well.
Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. The best way to teach someone is to guide them when they come to a road block, rather than to give them the answer. The amount of pride and prestige that comes from having figured out a problem on their own is the most important thing.

I recently graduated in Economics from Bishop's University. In my final year at Bishop's, I taught a couple tutorials to assist students in lower level economics courses. In addition, I succeeded quite well in 4 mathematical courses in my final year, averaging 26% above the class average (in Matrix Algebra, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations and Advanced Calculus II). I graduated from Plymouth State University in 2008 with my B.S. in Health Education. My option was Wellness Management which has a business component but in obtaining the degree I was required to do some teaching as well. (Not formally, more presentations to my peers and community education. I do not have a teacher certification.) I am a Certified Health Education Specialist which is a certification on top of my degree. I did some mentoring while I lived in Dover, NH and greatly enjoyed my time spent working with youth. Currently I work at a Federally Qualified Health Center. There I do community education as well as marketing.

A Little Bit About Me...

I currently teach at a small K-12 school where I taught business classes. My current course load includes Introduction to Career, Business Management, Business Math, Accounting, and Work-based Learning. I am also the director of the Stratford Alternative Education Program. This program allows me to help students complete courses such as Chemistry, Biology, and Algebra so they may receive a state diploma. Working in a K-12 environment has helped me gain a better understanding of the cognitive development and thought processes. I have enjoyed working with the students not only in the academic realm, but also behaviorally, socially, and emotionally.
