I graduated from Plymouth State University in 2008 with my B.S. in Health Education. My option was Wellness Management which has a business component but in obtaining the degree I was required to do some teaching as well. (Not formally, more presentations to my peers and community education. I do not have a teacher certification.) I am a Certified Health Education Specialist which is a certification on top of my degree. I did some mentoring while I lived in Dover, NH and greatly enjoyed my time spent working with youth. Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. The best way to teach someone is to guide them when they come to a road block, rather than to give them the answer. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all students have the ability to succeed. In my experience, the most important thing to remember is that all students learn differently, and sometimes what seems like an impossible task just needs to be presented differently for better understanding. Relating the material to situations and applications that are relevant and familiar to that particular student is a much more productive and beneficial way to have students retain information. I try very diligently to make each learning experience count and have students enjoy the learning process.

I have found, through teaching a wide variety of people a wide variety of subjects, that there is no one way to reach someone. Everyone has individual strengths and weaknesses. What I have found, however, is requisite to meet the needs of all students is respect for the learner. Without the requisite respect and encouragement, struggling students find it easy to give up and continue to believe that they aren't able to learn the material being presented.
