A Little Bit About Me...

I have a wealth of experience in many different areas. I have a bachelor degree in Economics. I started to work with special needs children. This was on a volunteer basis and so I don't think I listed it on my resume. I then substituted in the public schools for elementary and secondary schools. I tutored in the community college to college students. I opened my own school and taught medical classes. I have taught ESL in South Korea for 3 years to kids and adults.
I like to incorporate heart when I teach. Every student is special and keeps teaching interesting. I believe in the ability of the learner and must help them find success. I am patient but firm. Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student.
