A Little Bit About Me...

I like to incorporate heart when I teach. Every student is special and keeps teaching interesting. I believe in the ability of the learner and must help them find success. I am patient but firm. I know I am easy going and considerate and respectful of the students. I am a change agent in the lives of children. I am now a university student for the secondary school certification.
I have a wealth of experience in many different areas. I have a bachelor degree in Economics. I started to work with special needs children. This was on a volunteer basis and so I don't think I listed it on my resume. I then substituted in the public schools for elementary and secondary schools. I tutored in the community college to college students. I opened my own school and taught medical classes. I have taught ESL in South Korea for 3 years to kids and adults.

I have always known that I wanted to work with children and for the past 11 years, I have worked with children in various settings. I love teaching and enjoy seeing the light go on when something is learned! I am capable of delivering concepts in many different ways according to students' learning styles. I use a constructivist teaching method and often use Socratic teaching as a means to have students thinking independently about their work. After completing my biology and chemistry degree, I volunteered for 18 months in impoverished areas in California. Following this I decided to start teaching. While at Utah State University I completed both a Masters program and a second undergraduate program simultaneously. I am currently licensed to teach high school science. However, I have also spent time teaching science classes to elementary grades (3-6). I have taught Navajos, Hopis, Apaches, Mexicans, Arabs, and in two Multinational Schools in Saudi Arabia and to princesses in the Diplomatic Quarters of Riyadh. I have taught from k-12, been an adjunct professor for two campuses, taught special education, and human relations in alternative school settings.
