I am a very patient and driven teacher, which I believe are extremely important characteristics. Easy going is a great way to describe my personality, and students seem to sense that from me. It makes for a comfortable learning environment, but I also love having a lot of structure and planning in my methods so that learning stays on track. When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. I like to see people learn and the look on their faces once they understand. I do not believe that one style of teaching works for everyone. I like to work with the individual to evaluate how they learn before starting to teach.
Over the past 15 years or more I have mentored and coached hundreds of individuals. The primary areas of focus were math, statics (Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments and Data Analysis) and Physics (Thermo Dynamics, Electronics and Modeling Processes plus problem solving).
