I am a certified tutor with experience in Political Science/American Government. My experience was gained by working with college students (student-athletes and those with documented disabilities). I am also able to tutor History (both World and American History) and the Verbal/Written portion of the GRE test. I teach by using analogy and also by showing where to find the answers. I try very hard not to simply give the answers to the tutee. My thought is that simply giving the answers does not build a lasting base of knowledge. Plus I can show the tutee that even though I may not have all the answers I can use my resources to find the answer.

Just telling a child how to do a problem is not effective. I believe a teacher needs to explain the logic and reasoning behind solving certain problems certain ways. I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some.
