Making government interesting.

I'm very direct and try to lead you to the answers rather than directly giving them to you. I find that students who are given answers don't fully comprehend the material which could hurt them down the road. Additionally, I try to relate the various aspects of government to students by showing them the impact of governmental decisions.
I currently serve as an adjunct professor at one of the Oklahoma City area universities. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and believe I am definately qualified for your needs. Some of my research interests include state and local government, public policy, race and gender, voting habits, and higher education policy.

Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. What works for one student doesn't always work for every student. I am a loving and positive teacher by nature. I strive to be a teacher that my students will remember for life, because our time was such a positive impact on their success.

As an MBA graduate, I have a level of success in business and business management. I have earned a B.S. in Organizational Management with a minor in Mathematics and an M.B.A. in Organizational Leadership. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, I attended Fort Valley State University and carried double majors of Mathematics and Geology. I did not finish matriculating at Fort Valley. During the past 16 years that I have been in Oklahoma, I have tutored at my church and with teenages in my community at least 12 years as needed. I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education. During the past 4 years and working in the early childhood education industry I realized that many teachers were not getting the proper training that they needed to receive to help the children that they are serving. Once I realized this I decided to work on my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in hopes that i could be an Early Childhood College Professor and teach students the ins and outs of the early childhood industry. While getting my bachelors degree I tutored in subjects such as reading,writing, math, and science as well as art.

My teaching style is based largely on the priority academic student skills for Oklahoma. I have used Alpha Plus, Study Island, Destination Success by Riverside, Literacy First, You Can Learn, and Buckle Down software and written materials. I utilize several self motivating materials. I teach them how to acquire relevant data, how to retain it,and retrieve prior knowledge. My strength, is giving students a sense of pride, accomplishment, and building their self esteem. I have a great deal of patience with children who want to avoid learning. I have never taught a child that has not made their impact in my own life.
