Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. Teaching is a passion, or even a way of life for me. I believe that students learn mathematics by actively participating in problems. It does little when an instructor simply demonstrates how to work through a problem. What I find to be very effective is to follow the two step method: work a problem and then have the student work in the same way. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education.
