My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have played guitar for years.

I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.

My comments on tutoring Guitar : Over 35 years of music experience, including several years teaching guitar to a variety of age ranges, and playing professionally. I also have a B.A. in Audio Recording and Production with experience in music theory.

Mike's teaching style is a mix of the theoretical and the practical. When teaching computer/technology subjects, Mike has been blessed with the ability to translate the technical into "layman terms" so that the student can quickly grasp the concept without getting hung up on the "techno geek speak." When teaching guitar he believes in providing a solid "book knowledge" (chord theory, music reading, etc.) but framed in a fun and engaging way that motives the student to WANT to play (and practice) their instrument.
Mike is a detail-oriented, technical professional with a strong work ethic. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and CompTIA A+ certified. Mike has almost 30 years of technology experience including: database/application development (Access, SQL Server); website development (SharePoint, HTML, VBScript, etc.) and computer systems a ... read more

Guitar is one of my top subjects! Been studying guitar since the age of 8. I currently am applying to college to study Music Performance (guitar), but can teach basic and to some extent advanced Guitar Performance and Theory

I am a very patient person, but do admire and require people to be respectful in every sense of the word. I do not like sitting in front of the students begging him or her to pay attention. I like having engaged students that do their best to understand or learn. Regarding the music tutoring and teaching, I like having students that do not give up. I know learning a new instrument is hard; I experienced it myself, but the key to learning how to play an instrument is perseverance and practice.
I have been a tutor for many different areas, primarily music, during my High School years. Have worked in a program that focused in teaching poor homeless children to play various instruments. I also taught them how to build and maintain their instruments, and learned myself how to do it. I have also given tutoring in school subjects and have helped a few students understand subjects ... read more

I beleve teaching depends on individuals capacity of the student some are past learner and some are slow. You should find a way to make the student understand what to to do step by step or according his capability to digest the lesson. And i believe practice is repeatation until you make it right the Suzuki method I prepare to teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

The fears, doubts and anxieties that all students must deal with on an ongoing basis is something I am very familiar with both from a student standpoint as well as an academic advisor. To guide and to inspire the student to become an active, self-monitoring and independent learner is only half the battle, yet it is one of my skills. Without the ability to communicate genuine love and concern teaching becomes obsolete.

In a little under two years, I have spent my teaching experience abroad, splitting time between contract work in South Korea and Costa Rica as an English Language Instructor of both Elementary and Adult Language Education in 2nd Language Acquisition. In my experience, I came to understand that teaching language covers more than just the basics of speech and pronunciation, but developing ways in which to effectively communicate in which both teacher and student are able to relate the same ideas with one another, which include not only the areas of reading, writing, and speech, but also areas of math, science, art, physical education and wellness, and music as well.
I find teaching to be an enriching field that allows me the creativity and flexibility to allow necessary adjustments to the core curriculum based on the student or group of students learning abilities and styles. Every ... read more

As a graduate of Humboldt State University with a BA and a 2 year post-graduate certificate to teach, I have been led through an array of opportunities over 28 years. I have dealt with special needs children, teens, preschoolers, elementary children and taught any subject placed in front of me. In addition, I taught Drama, Speech, Creative Writing, Script Writing and Math at local Cooperative Groups in the state of Florida. The growth that each student achieves is my best reward. I love learning and love to pass that on. In tutoring, I first work at instilling confidence and apply small victories to achieve that goal. I find the learning style of the student and modify the information in ways that can make them more successful.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two younger brothers, ages 14 and 15, who I feel have made me that great tutor that I am today. Along with the assistance and support of my mother, we have pushed them to learn at a young age, and more often that not I grew up assisting them from their multiplication tables to beginner calculus. I feel that with constructive support and encouraging educators ANY student can flourish. I am very patient, try to convey concepts in simple step by step fashion, almost how I process it in my mind. I really strive to make a difference in all the young ones who I come across in my life.
