I have been a tutor for the past 4 years working for the No Child Left Behind Program. I taught English/Grammar/Writing to pre-schoolers through 5th graders. I am an excellent reading tutor/teacher. I have supplies and material that help children to have fun while learning English. Most of my children hate to see me leave when tutoring assignments have ended. I care about my students and will go to all lengths to help them to progress. I have worked with learning disabled children.
I use age appropriate workbooks to help children to practice English. I read enjoyable books to children and have them read back to me while questioning them on the logic and content of the books. Young children learn best through things that have meaning to them. For example, I once tutored a child that had difficulty learning his multiplication tables, but was an avid NASCAR fan. I taught him the sums of multiplication problems by using the numbers on the drivers cars. He learned that the sum of 6x4, and 4x6 was equal to Jeff Gordon's number, which was 24. We did that with every car in NASCAR and people were amazed at how quickly he learned his multiplication tables. Multiplication tables became a breeze to him. I have used similar principals teaching phonics, and reading to young children. I also, have a history of being patient and understanding with elementary aged children.
