I earned my Bachelors of Arts degree while working full time. I also continued to pursue employment that enabled me to work on my own. I have tutored not only my child to become an A/B student but also worked with another student, voluntarily, who was struggling in school. In today's work environment whether you strive to go to college or become a tradesperson your ability to learn is paramount. I believe that the curriculum should be tailored to the learning style of the child and not the other way around. Learning especially reading is a slow process where small steps towards the final goal count more than big leaps which are not lasting. Students can guide a teacher towards their ability and it is our job as teachers to pickup on that and use it to the child's advantage.
