My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have experience with preschool - first grade children. I know how to find the child's level of functioning and provide instruction based on the child's needs.

I believe a classroom for young children should provide a warm, accepting, and challenging environment.
I taught kindergarten in public school for twenty years. I am currently teaching in a private school setting. I teach a voluntary preschool class (VPK). In this role I help prepare my students so that they have the skills needed to be successful in kindergarten. These skills are not just academic skills. These skills also include having an ability to function in a large group, get along with peers, and persevere in a task until completion.

I've been a teacher's unofficial little helper since I was in Elementary, helping the students of my class that the teacher simply didn't have the extra time to help. From then on, I helped and even eventually taught my younger siblings when the current school system left them in the dust, and even helped them get a leg up and advance faster than their classmates. I've tutored a few younger kids in various subjects in my high school years, as well as occasionally teaching Taekwondo classes.
