I like to make a formal or informal assessment of a student's abilities during the first meeting. I design my lessons to remediate weaknesses and build on strengths. My main goal is to have students feel comfortable with me so they can do their very best.
I am a recently retired Special Ed. Teacher who specializes in Reading and Writing, especially for deaf or dyslexic students. I have tutored throughout my public and private school career, usually working with former students. I believe that all children are capable of learning; however it is important to remember that children have various learning styles. Some children may be auditory, textile or visual learners. My approach to teaching is a hands-on style where students can learn material through experience and discovery. My goal is to provide students with a good education while giving them strategies for learning and studying.
