My teaching style is aimed at making the child feel good and happy with learning. Often children need tutoring in subjects that frustrate them, they miss one aspect and while they're spending time on that in class the teacher blazes past them adding more confusion. I take it upon myself to back track to the initial place where the confusion stemmed from and spend the time working through these rough patches. I gear everything as a game or story to create excitement in a subject that would normally earn groans. Elementary math, despite how hard it looks to some people, is really easy. It takes time and nurturing. It's easier once they start a habit of memorizing simple things. I like to take what they know, help them understand it a little more, then apply it. I walk them through different questions they encounter and then watch them try it for themselves.
