Hearing Impaired Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Oak Island, NC

I know some sign language and have had students who are hearing impaired in my class room in the past. As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I believe in making learning fun and engaging by relating concepts to points of interest for the individual student. Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.

I earned my BA in Political Science and graduated from one of the best state schools in the United States, then went to law school and graduated near the top of my class. Both degrees involved large and complex amounts of reading and writing as well as excellent study habits. For the past five years as part of my job I taught reading and writing to individuals with developmental disabilities. I am the eldest of six children and tutored my brothers and sisters from kindergarten to 11th grade in all school subjects. I truly enjoy passing my knowledge on to other people. I am very patient. Before every lesson I review past lessons to ensure we are not building a castle on sand. I pass on to the student the ability to convey his acquired knowledge under test conditions. I love everything about working with children. I believe that everyone can learn if taught in the manner in which they can understand. I believe a teacher/tutor should try to adapt and change their methods to assist and engage the child in a productive learning enviornment. I believe that everyone has a role in the growth and success of a child's education. My goal is to provide the child with adequate resources and guidence needed to gain academic greatness.
