Biology is one of my top subjects! Biology is a wonderful class that can give you a broad overloook over such subjects as Botany, Anatomy, Chemistry and Ecology. It establishes the basic building blocks to focus on other areas of science.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. My previous tutoring experiences have included subjects such as; elementary science, elementary math, Algebra (I & II), Geometry, Pre- Calculus, Anatomy, Physiology, Biology (both College and HS level), HS Chemistry, basic w ... read more

My comments on tutoring Biology : I have been a tutor for over 15 years, with a BAS in Psychology, BS in Biology and Health Science, and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine. My students usually pull up their grades from a F up to a C+, that's how much I help them understand the subject. Eventually they reach a B or A depending on how much effort they put into it. My specialty is to adjust the teaching method on the subject, to the student's learning ability. I believe everyone can learn, they just have different ways to do it. I also focus on the student's need, which is something most students nowadays don't obtain at school from their teachers.

Having parents that place a great emphasis in achieving higher education, I graduated from high school with the age of 15 years old and was accepted in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, for the degree in Life Science Biology. While studying in Taiwan,I offered individual tutoring in Spanish and English for college students and adults who wanted to improve their knowledge on the language. After two years of studying in Taiwan, I decided to expand my horizons in education and applied for Brigham Young University Hawaii for the major of Psychology.During the time I spent studying in Brigham Young University Hawaii, I worked for the Counseling Department as tutor for a variety of subjects from Foreign Languages (such as Chinese and Spanish) to General Education (such as Psychology, Biology, History, Art, etc). I also worked as an Academic Advisor’s Assistant, where I could help my ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During my year as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Earth Ethics Institute, a non-profit organization at Miami Dade College, I was responsible for the successful execution of five high-profile programs. I strengthened my ability to multitask and was able to effectively implement each program’s components at their full potential and capabilities. I became accustomed to working independently under strict deadlines and overseeing many service-learning college students who assisted with events. As many of these service-learners regarded me as a role-model, I committed myself to bringing out their full potentials while mentoring them through their college experiences. I was considered the unofficial technological assistant of my workplace due to my proficiency at Microsoft Office and my ability to work at an exceedingly fast pace. In addition to this, my co-workers often request that I overview ... read more

I am an Elementary Education Major at the University of Florida and have helped many students succeed in all subject areas, with a strong focus on Elementary Education. Some subjects that I particularly tutor in include: math, science, english, social studies, and language arts. I also supply a student with supplemental material I feel will help them learn better and at their own, individual pace. For instance, I believe that some students may learn better through visual exercises, and them others may learn through auditory (hearing) exercises. Either way, I try to figure out what a students learning style is and work on that with a student.

More About This Tutor...

I have only ever tutored my neighbors two daughters. They both benefitted from it and both of the girls grades went up. Most of the time I would help them with math ,but would also help in any subject they needed, and they would work on their homework as I watched and guided them in the correct direction. If they were truly lost I would reteach the section and try to relate it to something they would better understand. They seemed to enjoy having me over to help and I loved being able to help them when they needed it.
Normally I will watch as the student works and when they get stuck is when I would help them. If they do not understand the material I will go back and teach it again. Once they seem to get it I would give one or two practice problems just to be sure they understand completely. I have no issues with repeating things multiple times if it means furthering the child's kn ... read more

Biology is one of my top subjects! I am a Biomedical Sciences major at the University of Central Florida and all my classes revolve around this subject. I got a high A in this class and received a letter of recommendation from my Biology professor.

I have tutored Biology in the past and have helped students with anatomy and physiology. I am a student at the University of Central Florida studying Biomedical Sciences and plan to go to medical school. I have learned how to study efficiently and can pass on that knowledge. I love teaching and find it extremely helpful for me to better understand the subject in addition to helping individuals learn the subject material.

Biology is one of my top subjects! Biology is a wonderful class that can give you a broad overloook over such subjects as Anatomy, Microbiology and Molecular Biology. It establishes the basic building blocks to focus on other areas of science.

My teaching style is very student-centered and patient. My students say I make biology and science in general seem easy. I break complicated material into small easy-to-understand pieces. I have one semester of college academic classroom instruction experience and over three years of tutoring experience. I have helped hundreds of students raise their level of understanding, grades and test scores. I have worked with students from 7 years old to returning students in their 50's! I love teaching science, helping with reports, and helping students get a better understanding of subjects they just don't understand. I don't want someone just to get the information I want them to know it.

Let me help you reach your potential

I am new to tutoring but am skilled in the subjects that I listed. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences. I held a GPA of 3.89 while acquiring my degree. Through my time at school I gained valuable knowledge on study skills, and various different science subjects. I would have no problem showing you my transcript.
