I like the students to learn how to learn. While I will guide them, test them and occasionally point them toward appropriate reference materials, I do not do the work for them....that's their job and the only way they will develop the appropriate learning skills, self-confidence and a thirst for knowledge.

I believe the most effective way to learn is through self discovery of the concepts. This should be done in a very positive environment in which the student is encouraged and motivated to fully understand the material. I don't believe in memorization, but understanding.
I have always loved helping others. In college I tutored 2 seperate high school students in chemistry and one in algebra, for a total of about 2 yrs experience. My degrees have taken me places that I never thought they would. I was excited to teach English in a school in Costa Rica for one year. There I was able to learn Spanish quickly as well as help elementary school children learn English. I taught grammar as well as science. I also tutored on the side in all subjects.
