I currently manage a research lab at Albany Medical College. During my tenure here in the past six years, I have been able to instruct techniques that I have learned and developed to other colleagues and students that have worked in the laboratory, even though my teaching experience began in high school as a laboratory assistant in the 10th grade biology classroom. I spent nine semester at FMCC in the TRiO Student Support Services program. I began as a part time tutor and after one semester the program director saw it prudent to keep me on. During my time with the program I helped to establish several tutoring programs, one at FM and another at Amsterdam High School for the Upward Bound Grant funded program. In my spare time I do private in home tutoring for students seeking to improve their grades and become adept at taking standardized tests. I think it is more important to understand the student than to understand the material.
