I tend to use stories and analogies to break down complex and arcane concepts into everyday images to make them easier to understand. Accounting lends itself well to this approach because at its core GAAP accounting is nothing more than a common sense approach to valuing and reporting financial transactions. Shorn of their technical jargon, one can see that they are easy to understand. The key is how to remove the technical wrappings so that the student can see the intuitive logic behind the jargon.
